Fall Painting Projects
With temperatures still hitting 90F, it’s hard to believe that Labor Day and temperate fall weather are right around the corner. But, the dog days of summer are the perfect time to think seriously about consulting The Paint Doctor regarding your exterior painting projects. Fall's 70 degree weather is the ideal temperature for exterior painting and staining. Cooler temperatures and less humid weather mean exterior paint will adhere better to your home and have a lower risk of peeling as the paint ages. But, don’t wait too long to schedule your painting project. It’s best if The Paint Doctor paints your exterior before nighttime temperatures fall below 35F because, again, there could be adhesion problems. Now that we have you thinking about the exterior of your home, let’s talk about interior painting projects! If you think you might be entertaining friends and family for Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas, or New Year’s, now is the time to also schedule interior painting so that you can be on The Paint Doctor’s schedule as soon as possible. In the meantime, we hope your summer ends happily, with fond memories, and great expectations for Fall and Winter. You can click here to request a quote from The Paint Doctor. Recycling & Disposing PaintAlmost everyone is tempted to pour left-over paint down the drain or sewer and then toss the empty paint can into the trash. We at The Paint Doctor ask, however, that you don’t do that. Improper paint disposal can be environmentally hazardous, harm plant and animal life, and may even pollute drinking water. Besides, throwing away all of your leftover paint will not allow for touchups down the road. Click here to read some of The Paint Doctor’s simple tips for safely disposing paint and for finding recycling centers. Storing PaintWhen The Paint Doctor finishes painting, our job isn’t done. We clean the room we painted, move the furniture back into place, label the cans of left over paint, and, most importantly, educate The Paint Doctor customers about how to properly store the remaining paint. After all, that left over paint can be key to touchups after boisterous kids leave finger marks on walls or picture hanging goes awry. Click here to read some of Archie's tips on storing paint. Vandalism or Street Art?To some, graffiti is an ephemeral art form that conveys social and political messages and boasts million dollar price tags at some avant garde art galleries. Others, however, view it as plain and simple vandalism. We at The Paint Doctor won’t debate the merits and legality of the ‘artwork,’ but we do offer a solution for its removal and provide products that prevent street artists from tagging private property.
